The International Cultic Studies Association (ICSA) announced its annual conference, taking place from June 29th to July 1st, 2023, in Louisville, Kentucky (as well as online). This conference is a great opportunity for those who are interested in the study and research of cults, psychological manipulation, and mind control. With a focus on providing an open platform for diverse perspectives, attendees can expect to engage in meaningful discussions and gain new insights into this field.
The conference will kick off with pre-conference workshops on June 28th, which will be tailored to former group members, researchers, mental health professionals, and educators. These workshops will provide attendees with a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by former members and equip them with tools to support their recovery.
Over the course of three days, attendees will have the opportunity to attend presentations by more than 100 speakers, with 4-6 simultaneous tracks available. These tracks will cover various topics, including former members, families, mental health professionals, and researchers. This means that attendees can choose the track most relevant to their needs and interests and gain the most from the conference.
I’m excited to announce that I will be offering a presentation on the “red flags in the self-development and online world.” With an increasing number of self-help and online courses available, it’s important to be aware of the potential risks that may come with these programs. This presentation will aim to provide attendees with the knowledge and skills they need to identify the warning signs of psychological manipulation and mind control and prevent joining a destructive group.
With 200 to 300 attendees expected from around the world, this conference is a unique opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals and professionals. ICSA is firmly committed to freedom of thought, expression, and religion, and this conference is no exception. Attendees can expect to engage in respectful and thought-provoking discussions, regardless of their background or beliefs.
